The Tangello project is a health-focused initiative aimed at improving the mental well-being of students. Designed as a dual-component system, it includes a digital platform (WebApp) and a physical space, both acting as resources for institutions to assist students with mental health support. The project seeks to provide accessible tools for mental wellness and integrate institutional resources into a cohesive experience.

Approach

The approach to the Tangello project began with establishing clear branding guidelines that aligned with the project's mission of promoting student well-being. A significant focus was placed on the exploration and development of the digital platform's UX/UI design to ensure a user-friendly and effective experience. Working closely with the development team, the process was iterative, with feedback loops incorporated into each design stage. Additionally, the creation of motion graphics videos helped communicate the platform's features to stakeholders and users.

Research

The research phase included an analysis of student mental health needs and institutional support mechanisms. The goal was to ensure the digital platform would be both user-friendly and aligned with mental health best practices. The research extended to branding, where competitive analyses and visual identity exploration helped shape the guidelines. Collaboration with the development team also required technical research to understand the limitations and opportunities for integrating UX/UI design within the WebApp.

Solution

The solution involved the creation of a cohesive brand identity for Tangello, as well as a functional and visually appealing WebApp. The branding guidelines were developed to ensure that the project’s message and identity resonated with the target audience—students and institutions. The digital platform's design prioritized ease of use, accessibility, and engagement, making it a valuable tool for students seeking mental health resources. Additionally, motion graphics videos were produced to effectively demonstrate the platform’s features.

Lessons Learned

The Tangello project offered significant lessons in both design and collaboration. One key takeaway was the importance of clear and consistent communication, especially when working across teams (design and development). Iterative feedback sessions ensured the platform’s user experience evolved based on team input and end-user needs. It also highlighted the critical role branding plays in establishing trust and identity in health-related projects. Lastly, the project underscored the need for adaptability—working within tight timelines while maintaining design integrity was a challenge that refined time management and creative problem-solving skills.
